About works

In an effort to introduce myself, I would like to discuss the elements of my drawing.

Memory, time, and space as well as the relationships between them are elements essential to the foundation of drawings. Because of this, these elements are also important sources for my drawings.

In addition to the elements that form my drawings, I would like to introduce the themes of my works, of which there are many.

Examples of these are: “existence, absence and existence.” “vanishing.” “places.” “trace and shell.” and “future memory and past anticipation.” among others.

Since these themes do not mean anything individually, I would like to emphasize relationship between elements and themes.

All of my works are related through the above elements mentioned above.

I adjust my focus on elements and themes in my drawings.

The theme dictates the strength of each element.

In other words, relationships form the basis of the drawings. I create drawings by changing the thematic focus of the elements.

For example, in “Child’s room (2010)” (Please see find in this site, Images 2010)

I was interested in the space in the gallery. I tried to depict gallery space using contents from my childhood. I considered both the public and private natures of the space, as well as memories from childhood and daily life. I drew the gallery space as a child’s room with contents related to memory. It can be said that future memory and past anticipation as well as a kind of current existence, can be traced.

Figures of people are absent in the works. On the other hand, I always draw “I” “We” and “people” with the above elements to imply existence or absence as well as trace of memory.

We might assume that these traces have already vanished and that we are imposing our   future memory but I continue my observation, consideration and drawing as an artist.
